Alas, Babylon Pat Frank, written in 1959, this book tells the story of a threat we face even today: nuclear war. Towards the end, the book does get rather strangely supernatural, butits by Stephen King. Admittedly, this book isnt about preppers.

Particularly relevant these days due to the Ebola crisis, Stephen Kings longest book is The Stand. This book was originally available only in e-book form. It is cold survivalist fiction series enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray.
